Ant Species

Humans may think we run the show, but ants dominate the planet. Ants outnumber people by roughly a million to one, and collectively weigh about as much as humanity. Without their soil-tilling skills, entire ecosystems would collapse. There are over 12,000 species of ants in the world.
Ants work with each other just like people do but possess a powerful means of chemical defense. The ants themselves use this for killing prey, humans as well as attacking other ants.  Many ant species have different formulations of this toxin they use.

Fire Ants

Ouch is what comes to mind when we hear about the fire ant species.

Red Harvester Ant

As the name suggests these ants are a gathering species who likes to hoard plants and seeds for later consumption by the colony.
